Hello everyone, I hope you are doing great!
Today I am sharing my favorite places in New York with you. As you may know, I travelled to Boston and New York this summer with my family and I always love sharing my holidays here on my blog. The Boston blog post is already live, you can check it out here!
New York is my favorite city that I’ve been to, I just love all the different neighborhoods and cultures that you can find there. It’s a very big city and there is so much to do! As said before, I’ll be sharing my favorite places of the city, please let me know in the comments if you’ve ever been to New York before and if so, what are your favorite places😊🗽
Ps: The places mentioned are in no particular order!
Friends Building & West Village
As a huge Friends fan, I had to go see the Friends building located in the West Village. Even though they didn’t film the tv series in that building (but in studios in LA) it was still really cool to see it.
West Village is a really nice neighborhood to visit and walk through because it is not that crowded and has this authentic New York vibe. It’s filled with cute cafes and restaurants, there are also a few small parks. West Village is also mostly a residential area, so there are tons of cute little streets to walk through!
Another great walk to do is walking on the High Line, located in the Chelsea neighborhood. It’s 1.45 miles long (2.33 km) so it’s a nice length if you have kids or if you don’t want to walk too much. In case you didn’t know, the High Line is an old metro line, reorganized into a promenade. I really love walking there because there are a few nice viewpoints and also very fun buildings (some of them by very famous architects!). Really great to take pictures!
Freedom Tower & 9/11 Memorial
If you love skyscrapers then you’ll love going to the Financial district. Personally, my favorite place of this district is the World Trade Center, where there is the 9/11 Memorial and the Freedom Tower. The memorial is really beautiful and every time I go there I always find it very moving. There is also the 9/11 museum, which I haven’t been to yet (but I really want to!) because every time I went there was too many people.
If you have a sweet tooth like me and you love everything matcha, then you need to go to Tayaki NYC. It’s a place where they make Japanese Tayaki ice cream, which is matcha ice cream (there is other flavors too) in a fish shaped waffle filled with vanilla custard (or red bean filling!). They have other options too, you can check out their Instagram page here and their website here.
No joke, it’s the best matcha flavored ice cream I’ve ever eaten (and the most beautiful one to hihi)! SO. GOOD.
Central Park is a must visit in my opinion, it’s just so freaking wonderful. There are tons of trees to sit under, tender grass to lay on and a few ponds with cute little turtles. For kids there are a few playgrounds and there are also a few baseball fields. You can walk through it or rent a bike and cycle across it. If you want to walk through it all, I’d recommend taking a whole morning/afternoon or even the whole day if you want to have a pic nic there. Love it!
Washington Square Park
Another nice park is the Washington Square Park, which has a big fountain and lots of trees. It’s a very lively place, most of the time there are street performers and just a lot of people hanging out. It’s very near the New York University so it’s also often filled with students (which is not a bad thing, don’t get me wrong haha!). There are also a lot of cute doggies😍
Oculus (World Trade Center Station)
If you love architecture, you have to go to the Oculus, which is the World Trade Center metro and PATH station. It’s also a big mall! It has a very futuristic vibe and it feels nice because the space is very open. It looks really cool from the inside but also from the outside!
Flat Iron Building
Another really cool building is the Flat Iron. It’s one of my favorite buildings in the city, and it’s located just next to 5th Ave and also next to the Madison Square Park.
Pietro Nolita Restaurant
If you love pink, you’re going to love Pietro Nolita! It’s actually an Italian restaurant (which I haven’t tried yet, if you have let me know!) where everything is pink. The outside is gorgeous (again, if you love pink!) and it’s a perfect photo location, which is originally why I went there. Next time, I’ll have to try the restaurant!
Sézane is a french fashion and accessory brand, known for their really nice boutiques. The window display was absolutely stunning, with so many flowers! Inside was gorgeous too, their clothes and accessories are so pretty! The shop was super photogenic, it may be my favorite store ever!
The Glossier Showroom was nearly on the top of my to go list and I am so happy I’ve been there! It was really beautiful, all the products were nicely displayed and everyone was super nice. I also really like that they only let a certain amount of people go at a time so it’s not too crowded and feels more comfortable shopping around. I got a few goodies which I will talk about very soon!
And there you go, these were my favorite places in New York! Please let me know what are your favorite places there, I’d love to know😊
I really hope you enjoyed this blog post, if you haven’t already, go check out my Boston post here!
