Guest Post #5: The Accessories Effect: How to Play with Your Style

June 8, 2018 by Roxanne | 4 Comments

Accessories

Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well!

Today I am having another guest here on my blog and I’m happy to say that it’s by my friend Amy Mia Goldsmith, who you guys probably know since she has written a few of my previous guest posts. You can read her last one here! If you are not familiar with Amy, is from Australia and she regularly collaborates with bloggers like me. She writes for Highstylife.com and Elegantluxelife.com . You can also check her online portfolio here.

For today’s post, she is going to talk about accessories and how you can play with your style. I really hope you will enjoy reading her post as much as I did, don’t forget to show her some love in the comments below!

Happy reading!

If you really think about it, accessories are the thing that makes your outfit. They add that touch of magic, that trendy vibe, that glamorous detail that makes you stand out. If done right, they can make your eyes look more vibrant, your waist more cinched in, or make your hands look softer. They bring attention to your favorite bits and distract from what you’d like to hide, and they can upgrade your style for you to come off as a true fashion expert. So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to learn all about accessorizing and pick up some of the hottest new pieces for this season!

Accessories complete the look

Accessories

Without a good accessory, your outfit will most likely look… fine. Nothing technically wrong with it, but you’ll always feel like something’s missing. Maybe a sweet pair of earrings to accentuate your eye makeup, or a nice scarf that matches the pattern of the dress. Accessories complete the outfit in a way that makes it look polished and intentional, like you’ve spent time thinking about each piece and know exactly what you’re doing.

They transform the outfit

Take a simple black dress, for example. You show up at the office wearing a blazer over it and it’s perfectly work-appropriate, but the very same simple black dress can also work as a party outfit. How? Shrug off the blazer, slip on some metallic sandals, and add a pair of silvery hoops on your ears. Maybe a touch of perfume, a bracelet to match the earrings, and bright lipstick.

You’ll be instantly transformed with the help of only a few pieces! You can try a little experiment: pick your most flattering jeans and a plain t-shirt and start playing around with accessories. Put on a belt, put on some jewelry, try how it looks with heels or how it looks with sneakers. Use the same outfit to see how accessories transform it.

Versatile pieces

Accessories

A pair of good black pumps is irreplaceable if you like heels, but you can also opt for some nude heels if you want that optical illusion of elongated legs. Leather bags are also super stylish and look good with anything, and this year, we like the bucket tote trend that was all over Australian Fashion Week. Also, big sunglasses in Sydney are the most popular accessory for a good reason – not only are they a great stylish piece, but they protect your eyes from the UV rays.

And that’s the best thing that you can do with your accessories, make them practical and versatile. That way, you’ll never look overdone or like you’re trying too hard, you’ll simply be wearing something cute that also happens to be very useful to you. Small pearl earrings, hoops, wristwatches, silk scarves, and ballet flats are a few more things that you can consider.

Accessories are your signature

Accessories

People can come to recognize you by the way you accessorize, particularly if you pick a signature piece to wear often. If you have a favorite necklace that people keep seeing on your neck, they’ll start associating you with that piece, and there’s something very powerful about being the kind of fashion-forward gal who has the presence of mind to even have a signature piece.

If you want a cool suggestion, you can take a look at what’s currently trending in Australia: head scarves. We like the idea because a single scarf can be worn in a million different ways. You can tie it around your neck, you can style up your purse with it, you can wear it instead of a belt, or you can get your hair out of your face and wear it as a headband. Pick a vibrant color or something with a gorgeous pattern and amaze people with how many ways you can style it.

It’s about more than just a brand

Just because you have a Louis Vuitton handbag doesn’t really mean you’re stylish. Accessorizing well isn’t about the brand or how expensive something is. It’s about how you wear it, how you coordinate it with other pieces, how the color matches your hair, eyes, and skin tone. A cute pair of red Mary Janes you found at the flea market will work just as something expensive if you know what to do with it.

The point here is to let your own creativity flourish. Practice accessorizing at home, in front of a mirror, and see what kind of looks you can come up with. Let your style reflect your personality and enjoy your fashion!

And there you go, that was Amy’s guest post about accessories and how to play with your style. I really hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful, don’t forget to show her some love in the comments below😊

I wish you a very nice day/night and I will talk to you in my next blog post!

I am a total fan of these accessories! The pumps look really chic – perfect for those office outfits. I always love switching up my bag around, and carrying around a tote is great! You can stuff everything in there XD. Thanks for sharing these recs!

First time trying out an essence, this one is from First time trying out an essence, this one is from @cosrx and was kindly gifted to me by @niasha_official as part of the #trymereviewme team🥰 Do you use an essence? Or do you prefer serums?

AD|Gifted Super excited to be part of the #trymere AD|Gifted Super excited to be part of the #trymereviewme team from @niasha_official 🥰🙌🏻 Thank you to the Niasha team for such a cool opportunity! I was asked to review this hyaluronic acid essence from @cosrx , here are my thoughts✨

It was actually my first time trying out an essence. I knew essences existed but I didn’t really know what they were and how to use them. After some reasearch, I learned that you are supposed to apply an essence after cleansing and toning, and before a serum and moisturizer so that’s exactly how I used this product.

The essence has a watery gel consistency which absorbed very quickly into my skin and was easy to apply. The formula is similar to a serum I would say and didn’t feel toosticky. I pressed it into my skin before my serum and moisturizer, like I mentioned before. I liked that the bottle comes with a little pump, so I can easily use the right amount (I use about three drops). After applying all my skincare, my skin didn’t feel stickier nor shinier than normal. My serum and moisturizer applied normally as well.

I love that this essence is fragrance free, super important if you tend to have sensitive skin like mine. After a few weeks of trying it out, my skin feels super hydrated and bouncy. Looking forward to keep using it as the weather gets colder. The bottle is pretty big too, so it’ll last me a while! Love this product so far💛
